On Saturday, September 14th, Wending Home hosted our very first Wine Club pick-up party!
The Founding Members of our Wine Club brought their friends and family to Wending Home for a night dedicated to fostering new friendships, enjoying some amazing wine, and dabbling in a ‘somewhat’ competitive tournament of cornhole. Our group was beautifully serenaded by Frank Kahn on keyboard, which provided for a wonderful backdrop to a nice, unseasonably warm, evening in the vineyard.
Wine Club members were able to have a special sample of our highly anticipated 2020 Syrah, which was part of the first wine club package. The 2020 vintage was one of the best growing seasons and harvests that Niagara has ever had. Layering on a rare varietal of the Niagara region also resulted in our 2020 Syrah having an extremely limited batch of only 42 cases produced! The grapes were sourced from the Wismer-Parke Vineyards in Vineland, on the Twenty Mile Bench. With a long gentle aging period, in older French oak barrels, not completely neutral and lasting 36 months. As Ron has demonstrated time and time again, another premium wine has been produced and he is staying true to the core meaning of Wending Home. Interested in trying or purchasing? We also included a special early celebration for the Moon Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival), a cherished Chinese celebration. Held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, this usually corresponds to mid-September to early October in the Gregorian calendar. This year, it was celebrated on September 17th. On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of autumn. Wending Home shared lanterns with guests during our event, which symbolized beacons that light people’s path to prosperity and good fortune. And also a good omen for the upcoming harvest! Co-owner Huaying Feng, also shared with guests traditional moon festival snacks – mooncakes and seaweed. Needless to say, the charcuterie board was a winner!
