Wending Home a Big Winner at the 2024 All Canadian Wine Championships! And More!

The 2024 edition of the All Canadian Wine Championships was successful for four Wending Home wines with two wines recognized as Double Gold medalists!

Kicking things off with a Bronze medal was our 2021 Smith Vineyards Viognier. This wine has been a fan favourite for a while now, and we are happy to see it get the recognition it deserves! A light, crisp, refreshing summer sipper; this wine has a beautiful long finish and low acidity that pays homage to traditional French viogniers.

Next, winning silver was the 2020 Cabernet Franc. This powerhouse wine also won silver at the 2023 Wine Align National Wine Awards. The 2020 vintage was a “super vintage” and this wine embraces it beautifully. Expect more great things from this vintage in years to come, as it ages and truly transforms into the phenomenal wine we know it to be!

Leading the way with stunning performances achieving Double Gold Medal status were the dynamic duo of the 2021 Chardonnay and the 2020 Up Above Pinot Noir. “We’ve long considered this Pinot Noir one of our best wines and it’s so great to see it get the recognition it deserves,” says Winemaker Ron Giesbrecht. This single vineyard wine showcases what Wending Home strives to be – a terroir focused winery that embraces what the grapes provide. As Rick Vansickle said on this wine: “This is Pinot Noir!”

Even more notable was the Double Gold medal for the 2021 Chardonnay – which has yet to be released. “Our chardonnay has been recognized around the world with our 2020 Chardonnay winning the prestigious Chardonnay du Monde competition in France”  praises co-owner Ying Feng. “We all knew 2020 was a great year, so it’s great to see that 2021 is also a fantastic vintage.”

You can’t purchase the 2021 Chardonnay individually on our website yet but if you can’t wait, we are offering a Gold Medal 6-pack which includes a special PREVIEW of our 2021 Double Gold winning 2021 Chardonnay along side Chardonnay du Monde gold winner – 2020 Chardonnay, our Double Gold winning 2020 “Up Above” Pinot Noir!

But what else?!
