The Spill the Wine Podcast was live at Wending Home to talk with Winemaker Ron Giesbrecht about some exciting new wines!
Andrea Morris and producer Lukas Sluzar joined us back in May (notice Ron’s not-so-subtle nod to the Habs still being alive in the NHL playoff hunt) to celebrate their 50th episode with their very first podcast in front of a live audience. Ron joined Andrea to chat about some unique grape varietals:
- Auxerois: a sibling to Chardonnay which is grown in Alsace and starts off with a note of melon.
- Ehrenfelser: a German grape from the 1920s which is a crossing, not a hybrid.
After discussing those wines, Ron introduced his new Small Batch Series of wines, beginning with the new non vintage Riesling (the détente Riesling) The story of this wine is incredibly interesting and you’ll learn a lot about the flash détente process.
He also shared a preview of the new “Farmers” Marquette, a wine which won’t be on the shelves until 2027.
The episode ends with questions from the audience too! You’ll definitely enjoy this episode!
